About Me
My interest in music began as a young child growing up in Bakersfield, California in the 2000s. As a kid in the 2000s, I listened to pop punk bands like Paramore, Blink 182, etc. As a teen to a young adult in the 2010s, my music taste expanded as I started learning bass guitar to jazz, funk, R&B, and pop. In 2021, I started work as a private guitar/bass instructor and am continuing to learn as I go. I have been lucky enough to play with local bands and musicians in Bakersfield, covering a wide variety of genres in Latin and American styles. These past couple years that I have been performing and teaching, I have learned and continuing to learn many things about myself, not just as a musician, but as a person on this journey. I created this site to continue to develop as both a musician and a human being, to offer my talents as a private instructor, bassist, and performer.
Bio
Joshua Faria is a private Bass and guitar instructor, performing Bassist, as well as a graduate of California State University, Northridge with a bachelor's degree in music Industry Studies. He graduated with an associate in arts degree from Bakersfield College in Spring of 2019. He currently is self-employed, giving private lessons for Bass and/or Guitar in Bakersfield, California since 2021. Since graduating CSUN in 2021, he has continued to play with various local bands from in Bakersfield, California, covering a variety of genres in Latin and American styles of music as well as building a career as a private instructor.

Session Bassist
Need a bassist for a recording session? I am a versatile and adaptable Bassist, recording various genres from swing jazz, rock, and R&B to more Latin styles such as cumbia, merengue, and salsa. As a bassist, I am always trying to learn new styles and genres so even if I may not be familiar with a certain genre, I am willing and quick to learn whatever is needed for a recording.
Music Lessons
As a current young adult who is a couple years removed from my academic years. I know how draining and tedious school can be. Whether you are a beginner to an intermediate, my lessons aim to provide a comfortable learning environment while helping to develop musical ability as a guitarist/bassist along with teaching good learning habits that can be applied anywhere.
Performance
Having performed as a bassist local Bakersfield bands such as La Marcha Sound. Live and El Grupo Latido, performance is something I enjoy. I can adapt to any kind of energy a performance demands, low or high. Whether you want a bassist that can dance and groove to a laid back bassist that just goes with flow, I can learn and adapt quickly to the energy you want.
